* The Earthship is a completely independent globally oriented home made from materials that are indigenous to the entire planet.
* The major structural building component of the Earthship is recycled automobile tires filled with compacted earth to form a rammed earth brick encased in steel belted rubber.
* This brick and the resulting bearing walls it forms is virtually indestructible.
* Earthships get water from catching rain and snow melt on the roof. Normal, code required water pressure is standard. The Earthship home is designed so that you have 'normal amounts' of water throughout the year.
* Earthships get electricity from the sun and the wind and stored in batteries for typical household use: computers, stereos, kitchen appliances, etc. You can also connect to the utility grid at the same time.The Earthship home is designed so that you have 'normal amounts' of electricity throughout the year.
* Earthships contain and treat houshold sewage in beautiful botanical cells which allow for food production and landscaping with no pollution of aquifers. Toilets flush with greywater that does not smell.
