About Earth Science Teaching Resource
I am very grateful to those Flickr members who have allowed me to use their photos as a teaching resource in my university lecture presentations. It is wonderful to be able to access photos from all round the world which illustrate geology, geomorphology and landscape processes.
This group is for sharing photos of geological and earth sciences subjects which can be freely used by others as a teaching resource. Do not post photos here unless you are happy for other people to use them.
Please ensure that your photos have a minimum resolution of 1000 pixels along the longest side; anything less than this is too coarse for projection - e.g. in a Powerpoint presentation.
This is NOT a dumping ground for your general landscape photos, however good they might be. Please ensure that your photos have suitable educational value - i.e. they illustrate a particular geological feature. Include descriptions and tags so that we know what we are looking at and can find subjects we want as easily as possible. Use tags such as "cross bedding", "volcano", "anticline", "thrust", "fossil", "ammonite", "landslide", "ria coastline".... etc. Photos without this information will be removed from the Group pool.
Please include accurate location data, preferably geotags, or if in UK, Ordnance Survey National Grid Reference. Photos without this information will be removed from the Group pool.
For Geotagging, I use Aemkei's 'loc.alize.this' which you can find here....
www.flickr.com/groups/geotagging/discuss/72157594165549916/
It's more accurate than the default Flickr mapping tool.
If you use a photo from this group, it is not necessary to ask permission from the photographer - that is deemed to be given by the fact that the photo is in the group pool, but please, please, acknowledge the photographer in your presentation, etc.
Please feel free to comment on other peoples photos, ask questions, offer explanations, etc. The value of the photos and of the Group will be enhanced as a result.
You may post one photo per day, which will then go into a queue for approval by the administrators.
