I think I liked it better when designers put out one line every couple of years. I feel like the designs were better, but now there seems to be a lot of pressure to release a new collection at least twice annually for quilt market.

That's interesting, hersnickety. I hope it is true!
Every time I ask a manager about something, I am told that individual stores have no control over what is shipped and that they have no idea what they're getting in advance.

Our store had the Far Meadow colorway today. It does look really pretty and felt nice. I like the colors a lot. It was priced at $12.99 at our store which made me sad. I decided to pass on it for now because of the price.

$12.99? In the US? Yikes.
Also, aren't premium prints on sale this week? 30 percent off? Or was that only last weekend?
Thanks for sharing that you found it!

$12.99?! Yikes, that's more expensive than the designer fabrics at my LQS..... That being said, I'll keep an eye out for it at my Joann's and may pick some up if I can get it 1/2off.

My Joann's had most of these new prints, and they were indeed $12.99 a yard. They do feel a lot better than the past DS Quilts lines, but dang, that is more than my LQS sells most quilt fabric for!

maybe they keep it so high because lately it's always on sale and therefore it actually takes it back down to a regular price? But still, that's almost like price gauging, and completely unnecessary when the rest of the quilting universe only charges in the $10 range. $3 extra per yard?! I hope the quality will justify that?
Posted 4 months ago.

Totally agree with you all. It does seem like price gouging; although, I wonder if that is trickle down from DS needing to justify her beautiful designs and Fabric Traditions attempting to produce a quality fabric? Sorry, I think I have been listening to too many presidential debates and cable news!
Oh well, I am passing on this line even though I like it....I am waiting on FMF in the Spring.

Holy cow--if we're going to be paying $10 a yard (after sale price) I'm going to expect the same kind of service I get at a local quilt shop. A loyalty program, that they know me, and NOT to wait at the cut table for an hour and a half (no joke--that's a very standard wait at our Joanns). Given that they won't provide any of those things I cannot imagine where they get off thinking they can charge that kind of money!

My store had all the prints today 30% off, plus the Joann's iPhone App coupon for an addition 20% off. That makes them $7.29/yd. Which isn't that horrible when you only purchase 1/3 yard cuts.

none out at my store yet. I asked about them and the worker asked if their store carried prints by her. I proceeded to walk him to the section with her prints, pull out the ones that didn't belong and grabbed all the ones I could see that should have been there. He was just laughing at how things had been put in the totally wrong place.
Why do I have to be the one to inform that staff that they carry an exclusive line by a particular designer? Sigh.

I always figure that they aren't paid enough to care and they aren't treated very well (at least at our location--the manager is rotten). Some of the workers don't even sew. (Though I do know a couple of women that work there to get the discount on fabric!)

Manchester CT had all but the large pink floral. They were in a cart all together at the quilting section cutting table, so very easy to find. I wasn't going to get any, but they are SO soft. I got half-yard cuts of my six favs and then 2 yards of the pink plaid to use as a dress for my daughter. I think I will certainly be buying more of these, I love the acidy colors and tone on tone prints. They seem like they would be perfect for quilt backs and bag linings. I had a 30% off total purchase card and they were on sale for 30% off, which I think made them right around $7/yard. A bit spendy, but I think worth it.

If you have the 20 percent off to go with the sale price, it works out to be $7.27 per yard (44 percent off).
If you have the 30 percent off card from a qualifying purchase during last week's sale, it works out to be $6.37 per yard (about 51 percent off), when combined with the sale price.

I don't know about y'all, but if the fabric is gonna be this expensive ($13/yd), I'm done and over it. Even with 40% off coupons, it's still almost $8 a yard :( And, then you have to collect it little by little with coupons......

Right now it is 30% off and if you have another 20% off coupon it makes it like $7.27 or so (plus tax of course) so you can get it all at the same time. You usually pay that or more for quilt shop fabric.
When I signed up for the VIP card on the JAF website, they sent me a 20% off coupon in my email.

& Since most prints in my LQS are $11 now, I really don't mind paying what they're charging at Joann's. They have them permanently marked 30% off ($9.09), and with my coupons I got most of them for $7.27/yard like Mama Spark said. The quality of this line is very good, and they ended up being $4 cheaper per yard than fabric at my LQS, so I don't think it's that bad of a deal.
But I do see where other people are coming from when they talk about price vs. customer service when compared to their LQS. If I had to stand in line for hours to have fabric cut like a lot of people, I might feel differently and only shop at my LQS. But my local stores are like ghost towns because not many people quilt in NOLA, and they're pretty friendly at the large location (the small store is a different story)

I don't mind paying more for quality. Unfortunately, the quality seems to be going down on all cotton fabric.
I bought yardage of the orange dots and didn't check it while at the store. There's a 1/2" tear in it that starts on the selvage edge and extends into the piece. I put another bolt back because it had printing errors. At a different store, I passed on another print because it also had big flaws. (All from Aunt Edna)

There seem to be a few different colourways ( a nice soft raspberry pink and a grey/ blk houndstooth) and not all stores have them. Will have to do some hunting. Could only find 10 bolts at Bondi. I hope we're getting the orange circle dots!
