Sali
Species: Sumatran Tiger
Date of Birth: 11 April 2008
Sex: Female
Colour: Golden with dark stripes
Average weight: 70 kgs

Born on April 11 to a litter of four at the Perth Zoo, Sali, which means “steadfast” in Indonesian language, had an ill-fated start to life. Rejected by her mother after the death of her three siblings, she faced a future without social interaction. Sali was flown to Dreamworld’s Tiger Island to be hand reared by a team of trainers with a combined 60 years experience. Sali is already feeling at home and isnt phased by the likes of Mohan. But knowing their characters, I’m betting Taj will be the one to teach Sali proper tiger etiquette.

Sex: Female
Colour: Golden with dark stripes
Average weight: 70 kgs

Sharing a birthday with her mother, Sumatran tiger Soraya, Jaya and her two sisters Shanti and Ndari were born the morning of June 9 weighing a healthy 1.3kg, 1.28kg and 1.13kg.
‘Jaya’ is Indonesian for ‘victory’. Jaya was chosen for its significance to the survival of the species. Jaya is also younger sister to Indah and Rahni who were born in March 2007. Jaya and her sister’s are an important milestone in the captive breeding program for Sumatran tigers. When they are adults (around 3 to 4 years) they will move to other zoos to be involved in the global breeding program.

Sharing a birthday with her mother, Sumatran tiger Soraya, Ndari and her two sisters Shanti and Jaya were born the morning of June 9 weighing a healthy 1.3kg, 1.28kg and 1.13kg. Indonesian for ‘full moon’, ‘Ndari’ name was chosen as it reflects her big, moon shaped eyes. Ndari is also younger sister to Indah and Rahni who were born in March 2007. Ndari and her sister’s are an important milestone in the captive breeding program for Sumatran tigers. When they are adults (around 3 to 4 years) they will move to other zoos to be involved in the global breeding program.

Facts: Indah was one of the first litter of Sumatran tiger cubs born at Tiger Island. Indah’s parents Soraya and Raja have the purest blood lines in the Australasian region, therefore Indah is extremely significant contribution to the conservation of Sumatran Tigers. When she is 3-4 years of age, she will be transferred to another zoo for the global breeding program.

Facts: The king of Tiger Island. Born in the United States and transferred to Dreamworld as one of the original inhabitants of Tiger Island in 1995. Father to Rama, Sita, Sultan and Taj who were born at Tiger Island in 1998.

Facts: One of the first litter born at Tiger Island. Son of Mohan and brother to Sultan, Sita, and Taj. Rama possesses very unusual coloration: a light orange coat with faint brown stripes. This is because his father was white and mother - dark orange.

Facts: One of the first litter born at Tiger Island. Daughter of Mohan and sister to Rama, Sultan, and Taj. The only female bengal tiger on Tiger Island, Sita was a vital link in Dreamworld’s tiger breeding program, but developed problems and had to be de-sexed. Sita possesses very unusual coloration: a light orange coat with faint brown stripes. This is because her father was white and mother - dark orange.

Facts: One of the first litter born at Tiger Island. Son of Mohan and brother to Rama, Sita, and Sultan. The first white tiger born in Australia. The second largest tiger on Tiger Island.


Kato

Facts: Born at a wildlife park outside Sydney and transferred to Dreamworld on November 19, 2001. Genetically unrelated to Dreamworld’s other tigers and was going to be bred with Sita. The youngest tiger on Tiger Island.


Soraya

Facts: Soraya is the Mother of Indah and Rahni. Born in Tier Park, Berlin Germany and transferred to Dreamworld on October 30, 2003. Unlike Dreamworld’s other tigers, Soraya was not hand-raised so she does not appear on Tiger Island. She lives in her purpose built, off-exhibit tiger facility at Tiger Island.


Raja

Facts: Raja is the Father of Indah and Rahni. Born in Krefelder Zoo, Germany and transferred to Dreamworld on December 1, 2005. Raja has not been hand-raised and can not be handled by Tiger Island staff. He lives in his purpose built, off-exhibit tiger facility at Tiger Island.
