I wonder how many ppl have "issues" when facing a blank piece of paper. How do you get passed that and start a drawing?

VERY!!! Actually, not so much a blank piece of bond paper, but that first page in a brand new sketchbook is the worst. The blank sketchbook is such a perfect thing, so full of potential. Limitless creativity until that first ugly drawing mars what was once a thing of beauty. So I cut out that horrible drawing and start again.

LOL I feel your pain. It's the same for me. I blank page it's full of possibilities but then i'm afraid to mess it up :-)

I'm new to all this, so I find the blank page VERY intimidating - especially when sketching out and about. I found some ideas in Dory Kanter's lovely book 'Art Escapes' helped a lot - like drawing small boxes on the page and doing a quick sketch in each. I have also been inspired by many of the journals posted here on Flickr.
