About Drakes Bay Oyster

Drakes Bay Oyster Farm in Point Reyes National Seashore is at risk of closure. Despite the agricultural and aquacultural history of the Seashore, the Park Service has indicated that it does not plan to renew the lease that would allow the oyster farm to remain in operation.

The Lunny family, who own the farm, are committed members of the West Marin community and advocates of sustainable, environmentally-friendly agriculture and aquaculture. Some of the costs of losing the farm include: losing almost 40% of California's oysters all of which are marketed locally; losing a sustainable, low-impact food source; losing jobs, housing, and consequently community members;.

Please support the oyster farm with your pictures illustrating the cultural, historical, ecological, economic, human, social, and edible aspects of the farm. Thank you and enjoy!
