About Douglas County, Oregon

Welcome to Douglas County....From the coastal city of Reedsport to Crater Lake embedded in the Cascade mountain range. This group is dedicated to the splendor, the beauty and the spirit of the Northwest that is Douglas County, Oregon.

This group is for anyone that loves to take pictures in the area and also for those who long to be here, but it is open for anyone to join. This is a family friendly group so be mindful of the subject matter in which you post and let it be known that if you do post something inappropriate your posting will be banned and you might be subject to a removal from the group.

I know a lot of us love Douglas County for it's outdoor flora and fauna and that is what we often take photos of, but sometimes we miss obvious opportunities that are right in our own backyard just simply because we do not know about it yet. So check out DougCo Scenic Locations List, if you have an idea for a locale, event or person or group of people post it so that others might have the opportunity to photograph it too.


Group Rules: We want to keep this group as community oriented as possible, so here are a few things to keep in mind:

-All photographs posted to the pool MUST have been taken within Douglas County, Oregon, otherwise why even have this specific group?
We would like to keep the photographs interesting to not only the members, but also anyone that may be passing through wondering what is so special about our neck of the woods.

The main idea is to highlight what makes Douglas County, OR a wonderful place to live.

Acceptable Photographic Categories:
Places: Nature, Flora, Fauna, Landscapes, Seascapes (i.e. Umpqua River, Oregon Dogwood etc.)*
Events: Holiday celebrations, Special Events (i.e. Live at the Half Shell, Wine Festivals etc.)*
*Try to leave map information where the picture was taken.

NOT Acceptable Photographic Categories:
Family & Friends: Portraits where the central subject is a person. (i.e.You child's Graduation, New Borns etc.)


-No obscene images (if flickr has not accepted them as 'safe'; please don't post them here).

-No excessive foul language in discussions, unless you're really, really funny. But really, that's not funny, right? So don't.

-Please avoid posting highly manipulated images (This does not mean no Photoshop but rather, no digital borders, no adding elements that weren't in the original image, etc. Processed photographs are great, but all the elements must be photographic and original to the scene. Use your judgment. Administrators are forgiving but might remove images that stray too far from photographs that show what can be done with these cameras.)

-Digital text is only allowed for watermarks. We dislike watermarks but grudgingly accept that they are a fact of life.
