Paintings made while observing and studying the subject, scene, person, or object in front of you.

Invited members only.
Approved images only.

Traditional subject matter such as landscapes, interiors, buildings, vehicles, still life, single objects from the environment, genre scenes, portraits and nature. No nudity.
Please limit posts from journals to those pages without distracting writing and text on them. Crop the image to show only the painting. Also, please crop framed work to remove frames.

Work must be labeled in the title or description "direct observation" or "drawn from life".
In the case of landscapes, they may be labeled "en plein air" or "on location".
For drawings in cafes and public places, they may be labeled "on location".
Work not labeled as direct observation or plein air work will be removed from the group. Please label work before posting so it will not be removed.

Paintings may be in any wet painting medium and also in watercolor pencils, crayons, colored pencils or pastels that are done in a painting style rather than a drawing style. Ink and watercolor wash work will be accepted for this group also.

No nudity, no porn, no offensive art of any kind.

This is a child safe, family friendly and school friendly group.

This group is for paintings, meaning works made with paint. That eliminates all digital art, computer art, digital art and photoshopped art or edited photos that are falsely labeled as paintings. Looking like a painting doesn't make it a painting.
