Thanks. The truth is, I hardly ever get replies, and almost no one sends me photos in the mail if they tell me they're going to. It's kind of sad that I cant give them away.

The problem my be a little more complicated than that. Most folks are taking digital, they may or may not have a printer and then the quality of the printer may be marginal at best. So, their next option would be to bring the file and have it developed. Not something most people would do.
Next, how many folks have stamps or envelopes anymore? Even if you have stamps, are they current? Do you know what the current stamp costs?
You'd probably get bombarded if you accepted digital files, IMO.

It is a pity that I live in Australia and the mailing requirement is somewhat expensive and cumbersome. I have several photos of my dachshunds that would look really good as drawings.
Is there a way it can be done electronically.

I can't draw from a computer screen, only photos/ printed stuff. I also started doing this because I love getting real mail- not junk mail. I sent a drawing to Sweeden once- a corgi and a hamster. The truth is that it does take me a considerable amount of time and energy to make the drawings and i pay more for the shipping of the finished drawings than the dog owner does to send the photo because the drawings are bigger and in protective enevelopes. I do this for fun but part of the fun for me is receiving and sending mail. So send me a picture!

Would I get my pic back after I send it to you? How many can I send you?

If people could send you pictures via Email, couldn't YOU print the picture and draw it? Just curious. Just an idea...

DjsBoo, that would mean draw_my_dog would have to print them out (cost money) and also draw them (more money) and then mail them (more money still) it would cost her too much for a freebie..lol

^^ that's a good point actually, I was thinking of sending a pic in but wouldn't be cheaper if we e-mailed the dog pic to draw_my_dog, she'd draw them and scan them in and email them back? Its prob quite a bit of hassel but it's cheaper on both accounts :)

I think that is nice enough to offer to do the drawing that we should be thankful and do it to their specifications instead of what's convenient for us! Some people like getting snail mail.

it only cost like 29 cents to get a digital print printed and some of the drug stores ie Walgreens has coupons for like 19 cent prints.

I Like getting snail mail. It's true. A stamp costs 41 cents. It costs me about $1.50 to send the drawing back. I do keep the photo. This is very little. I just want a little something tangible for the work I make i.e. a real photograph or a piece of mail from Barbados addressed to me! I don't think that is so weird. Thanks eckybay for understanding!

I think it's sweet what you're doing and if I had any photos on paper, I'd send one PLUS the return envelope with the correct postage - I love my dog that much to have a sketch of either Buck, Max, or Kelly would be a treasure.
PS, I like snail mail, too - you have something tangible in your hands that Windows can't lose and the stamps from other countries are so cool to see.

Can't people just post their photos and you save them and get them printed out?

SHE LIKES TO RECEIVE SNAIL MAIL! HOW MANY TIMES MUST SHE REPEAT HERSELF!
GOOD LORD, PEOPLE!
Sorry, i got a little worked up :).
but seriously. she said it about 6 times. if you want a sketch of your dog, take 10 minutes of your day and 42 cents out of your piggy bank and send her a duplicate of your photo that you want her to draw.

I draw animals for a living. I know the time and effort involved. I think what 'draw my dog' is offering here is a wonderful gift. How often do you get a unique, personalised piece of original artwork for free??
Shame on anyone who's too lazy to print a photo and stick it in an envelope!
Good on you 'draw my dog'! :0)

If you can, I'm sure draw_my_dog would appreciate a good photo with nice light. Bigger would be better. I used to do paintings in college. Bad photo reference means bad painting/drawing.
What a generous offer. I checked out draw_my_dog's drawings and they are wonderful.

This is such a generous offer and I totally agree with Ali. I'm an artist as well and I know the work that goes into creating animal portraits. I think it's very ungrateful for anyone to ask draw_my_dog to alter her procedure at all.

look... to get a pro to draw, paint, sketch or what ever... your dog, it would probably cost over $50.00 to over $100.00 She is willing to do it for FREE.. i wont even do a digital painting for that let alone supply my time and paper, postage, and supplies for free... lol I think its a very generous offer and im sure if we all have a computer, and a digicam, surly we must have a printer?? no? if not, there has gotta be a Walmart close by.

Your drawings are amazing. May I please send you a picture of my baby. We live in Florida. Not out of the states, but I would love to have her done by a professional, like yourself.

Yes good question, if is a photo that is to be printed out what size is preferable. Someone with a ranbow bridge pup might not have many choice options of photo type, but those who do could send the most favorable.
Second what size are your drawings when complete. or does it depends on the photo you receive? All curiousity stuff to me.

I think it's awesome to offer this too, and who doesn't love getting real snail mail?? I'd like to know the answers to the above question too, because I do plan on sending a photo your way =)
