TRUST November Blocks--Modern BOM (July)
|
For November, we will be making a quilt out of the July Modern BOM block, posted by Alissa Haight Carlson at Sew, Mama, Sew.
Using this tutorial.
sewmamasew.com/blog2/2011/07/modern-block-of-the-month-bo...
Please make 2 blocks (identical or different) using all solids.
Background: White
Stripes: Grays, Charcoals, Blues, aquas, with a bit of gold thrown in there.
Manufacturer: any. you can use moda bella solids, kona, p & b, crossweaves, quilters linen, painter's canvas, etc.
No: royal blue, black, school bus
*Every block needs blues or aquas and grays. Not all of the blocks need the gold. I want to use that more as an accent.*
COLORS:
From my kona color card, I'm looking for colors similar to the following:
Marine, regatta, pacific, navy, robin egg, peacock, Turquoise, cyan, caribbean, teal blue, ash, medium gray, coal, charcoal
Accented with something like: cheddar, ochre, sunflower, mustard, curry, yarrow, butterscotch, caramel, gold
If you don't have the "right" colors and don't want to buy them, please send me an email at swimbikequilt at gmail dot com and I'll put them in the mail asap.
[no royal blue. more like the blues and aquas in these two mosaics]

Yes, slate will work. Basically, anything in the grays/blues/aquas will work.

I just realized I also have all my leftovers from my bottled rainbows quilt, surely some of those blues should work!

You know I'm a Kona addict--already working on a larger quilt in similar colors, and have just gotten myself a Kona assortment (huuuuge splurge) and looking for an excuse to dip in! Sign me up!

I'm good for blues and grays, but zilch yellow or gold. But could get it, of course ;)

All right. Let's go with this, then. Please make two blocks (that is the standard request, right?)

The blues I have are: Kona Pacific, Peacock, Marine and Bayou - will any of these work for the blues? If not, I will need to head to the fabric store.

Yep, Marine, peacock, both work great. Blocks can be different or exactly the same!

You can either do that, leave yellows out of the block, or I can slip some in the mail. :)

sounds good. I can't believe it's November. I realized that the only fall related activity I did with my kids was... took them to Trader Joe's to get a pumpkin. Luckily, my husband took them to the pumpkin patch, trick or treating, etc. He wins the grand prize! Came home from market to sick kids...
Can't wait to see all of the blocks!
