About Dodge and Burn
From Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodging_and_burning
Dodging and Burning are terms used in photography for a technique used during the printing process to manipulate the exposure of a selected area(s) on a photographic print, deviating from the rest of the image's exposure.
Dodging decreases the exposure for areas of the print that the photographer wishes to be lighter.
Burning increases the exposure to areas of the print that should be darker.
Ansel Adams elevated dodging and burning to an art form. Many of his famous prints were manipulated in the darkroom with these two techniques. Adams wrote a comprehensive book on this very topic called The Print.

These days most examples will be from the "digital darkroom" (Photoshop, Lightroom, GIMP, picnik, etc.), but would also love to see examples from folks keeping the film darkroom art alive. Also, please consider adding a brief comment in your descriptions or tags... like "burned the sky", or "dodged the statue"... that would be helpful.

Message from the group's creator:
Thanks for joining.
I started this public group because I could not find a flickr group specific to dodging/burning methods and images. It's something that interests me, and I'm continuously looking to improve my techniques. Collectively, I hope we can all learn together.
Enjoy, and looking forward to seeing more images added to the pool.
