Coastlines: Images of Land and Sea is on view April 25–August 22, 2010, at the Dallas Museum of Art. This exhibition of over sixty paintings, photographs, prints, and drawings explores how visual artists of the modern period (1850–present) have represented coastal landscapes. Drawn from the collections of the Dallas Museum of Art and from local collections, the exhibition unfolds in several thematic groupings that bring together diverse works of art to explore a particular idea or question. Impressionist paintings, for example, will be shown alongside contemporary photographs, and the landscapes depicted in these images will include those from Maine to North Africa, Cape Cod to Martinique, and beyond. www.DallasMuseumofArt.org
GUIDELINES:
Please submit only one image per person. We want to make sure that we are able to represent everyone in a timely manner. To do so, we need to limit submissions to your one BEST photo. We leave this selection up to you, and encourage you to consider the following:
Submit photographs that emphasize the physical, threatening, poetic, immersive, or spiritual qualities of places where the land meets the sea.
Share your memory of the coastal landscape in your photograph by writing a few sentences about your experience there.
If you don’t have an image to share, visit the exhibition and be inspired by the works of art on view. The exhibition will be on view April 25–August 22, 2010. Visit early, and then take a trip with your camera to the coast! Submissions will be accepted throughout the run of the exhibition.
Both color and B/W images are welcome.
Photographs submitted are moderated for your safety. It may take several days to approve images before they will be on view in the exhibition. It is our intention to include all images; however, the Dallas Museum of Art reserves the right to omit submissions that are inappropriate in nature.
By submitting your photograph, you allow the Dallas Museum of Art the right to display it on a monitor within the exhibition and on the Museum’s website.
Special Note: In order to have your photos appear in a Flickr Group, you must have uploaded five or more images to your Flickr account. Please check your account, and if necessary, upload a few more images to ensure your one photo is included in the Coastlines Group.
