Engagement Photos in Disneyland

My fiancee and I are big on Disneyland to say the least. We are premium AP holders, got engaged at Snow White's wishing well and even have a brick right in front of the main entrance to DL. Because Disneyland played such a huge part of our lives, we have chosen to take our engagement photos in the park in the very near future. Our photographer has agreed to meet us at the park and the DL staff has given us the green light (sort of).... all we need now, are locations for the photos. We spend most of our time in Adventure land, Frontier land, Main Street and New Orleans Square. Here are a few of the spots that I am thinking of but I am very interested in hearing your suggestions:

- Our Stone
- Snow White's Wishing Well
- Ariel's Grotto
- New Orleans Streets
- Fountain between the New Orleans Square train station and Haunted Mansion
- Mark Twain

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
PS - We are planning to go to the Park this Sunday (Dec 14) to scout possible photo locations.. so suggest away!

The stairs there should work well:

Thanks for the suggestion Barry, very much appreciated. I dug into the location a bit and found the below thread on mice chat regarding the Court des Anges being converted into a retails space:

Not too bad, usable even... hope they revert the court back to it's original beauty after the holidays.

Thanks again!

We got engaged there back in Aug 05. Disney actually shot a little commercial around us. I got my wife her rings at the Jewel of Orleans. I'll have to get some of the publicity shots up here for all of you to see.

I actually proposed inside the Jewel. It was awkward as all get out because of the camera crews and all that. The store wasn't big enough and they nearly tripped me, not to mention hitting me in the head with the boom mic after she said yes.

We just got home from the engagement photos at the park... actually had alot of fun. The locations we focused on:

- CALIFORNIA sign outside of DCA
- Our Stone
- Random Main Street side streets (Marceline Hotel mostly)
- Snow White's Wishing Well & Walkway to Fantasyland
- Carnation Plaza Gardens Stage
- Rancho de Zalco entrance/path
- Marshy area next to Big Thunder Mnt exit.
- Haunted Mansion Fast Pass area

Overall, plenty of great photos at amazing locations. Getting into the park with standard DSLR gear is a whole different story:

Cast member "Patty" followed us in the area between DLR and DCA. She told us we needed permission to shoot inside the park and that we couldn't take our "gear" in the park as Disney is worried about "inappropriate" photos being taken. She warned us that by shooting in the park with said gear, we run the risk of being escorted out by security.

Now, we have taken our DSLR gear in the park MANY times without issue from any member of the staff.. why was today any different? We told her what was going on and she informed security, came back to us and said as long as we keep the telephoto lenses hidden and removed the flash cloud, we could shoot discreetly in the park. We eventually entered the park without any further issue, but this just felt like power trip. We joked about Disney snipers in the windows and plain-clothed security personnel stalking us. :)

We shot at all the above locations and the cast members were nothing but nice and helpful in each location. Many offering congratulations on the engagement. Overall, an amazing day despite the speed bump known as "Patty". I'll be sure to post a few photos once they are available.

@grubendol:
Great engagement story! Each time we visit that shop, my better half gets that glassy-eyed look and becomes like a kid at Christmas. Here's my engagement story in my fiance's own words...

"Since we have season passes I didn't think much of it because we always go to Disneyland. As you may or may not know every ride at Disneyland that has water in some way involved in it has a place where you can throw in a penny and make a wish. So, when we decided to go on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, josh handed me a penny and asked me if I wanted to make a wish. Of course I did. He asked me what I wished for and I refused to tell him... everybody knows you can't tell or it won't come true! This continued all through the park until he took me over to Snow White's wishing well next to the castle. He gave me one last penny and said "make a wish" so I did.

He grabbed my hand turned me around and when I looked he was down on one knee! To which I yelled "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" He told me how much he loved me and asked if I would marry him and be his wife. I of course burst into tears and said yes. He stood up handed me the ring as I threw my arms around his neck planting a big kiss on him, then told him he had to put it on me. I later told him that every wish was for him to propose...so I highly recommend throwing in that penny and making that wish...worked for me!

We immediately went and got our bride and groom pin, as we collect the Disneyland pins. He took me to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants called the Blue Bayou. It's the restaurant that overlooks the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Then spent the rest of the night telling anybody and everybody that I had just gotten engaged."

I was told by a cast member who works the security check in that long telephoto lenses are prohibited inside Disneyland because celebrities who go to the park have complained about the paparazzi who follow them in and stalk them for photos. I guess they figured if they forbid that type of lens, that will keep them out.
My lens (Canon 28-135) passed inspection. But I've seen some guys with those ginormous white Canon telephoto lenses. How did they get in?

Hmm, I've been looking forward to getting a 70-200 and bringing it to Disneyland to shoot some nice pics, but from the sounds of this thread, they won't let me in with it? That's surely a shame because Disneyland is the kind of place with the small details that's just begging for a long tele lens. =(

It probably wouldn't be too tough to get it in the park, but surely they'd just kick you out if they saw you pull out the big whites. FWIW, I've never had a problem bringing in the 24-70 f2.8.

We had 2 large white lenses with our photographer and we just separated the lens from the camera body when entering the park and it wasn't an issue. We pulled it out when needed, but we didn't keep it attached all day as it draws attention. Snap-Snap-Stash. Most of the security guards were very helpful and to be honest, cool. None of the cast members approached us while inside the park, it was in the area between DCA and DLR that they showed any concern. Hope that helps.

Edit: I have shot with a black 55-250mm without issue. The flash clouds draw attention as do the lens hoods...

I thought they loosened the reigns with this rule. I know there was a rule 5-6" inch limit rule that was enforced when Lindsey Lohan was at the parks.

I've never had any issue with bringing camera equipment into Disneyland. In fact, i used my 70-200 last weekend in DCA for the Play Parade. Everything was in my bag when going through security and they didn't say one word about it. I even used a tripod for the fireworks at DL.

When you start getting into lighting equipment, that's another story. Maybe having an "assistant" with flashes on a monopod might work, but softboxes and umbrellas are large and obtrusive and will draw too much of the wrong kind of attention quickly.
