About Disney is in the Details
This is a group dedicated to the fine little details that make Disney Parks/Resorts and other Disney properties (movies, etc.) special.
Please note that this is NOT the place for the following types of photos:
1. Wide Shots of the "Weinies" (*snkr*). That is to say, a wide shot of the castles, Spaceship Earth, the Sorcerer's hat, etc. This doesn't mean those things can't be in the photo, but there should be a discernable detail that you are trying to feature, not the item as a whole. This can also go for resorts. For instance, a photo of the entire Contemporary main building is not a good detail, the five-legged goat inside is a good detail.
2. Costumed Characters. This is a little trickier, but hopefully I can explain it well. I'm not against having characters in DiitD photos, but there should be something special or unusual about the character, whether it's what s/he is wearing, doing, etc. that you are trying to present. I'm even ok if you have a photo of a character that is pretty unusual to see in the parks - I have a shot of Liverlips from the Country Bear Jamboree while he was out greeting people during MVMCP. What I don't want here are just photos of characters during stage shows where there's nothing particularly special going on that would count as a detail.
3. Family Photos: This hasn't been too much of a problem, but any family snapshots. For instance: The whole family posed in front of Cinderella castle is not a good detail, Cinderella kneeling to admire your daughter's tiara is a great detail, your daughter posed with Cinderella in front of the castle is not a good detail.
4. Fireworks: I wavered on this, but it has to be a pretty special shot to stay in.
If you notice that one of your photos has been deleted from the group, please don't take it personally. I have deleted a few photos that I thought were outstanding photos, but just weren't right for the group. I noticed submissions were starting to drift into the realm of just general photos of the parks, not so much the details.
A great example of a spot rich in details is the Jungle Cruise - the free kittens sign, the names of the lost boats/people, that kind of thing. Stuff that shows Imagineers and animators really thought about everything. Make sense?
The inspiration came from the WDW Radio Show podcast and Jeff Pepper's snapshots and freeze-frame entries on his blog, 2719hyperion.blogspot.com. Check 'em out.
And if you're curious about the role names, it's just based on the popular phrases that God/the Devil is in the Details, not some inferiority complex on my part ;-)
Here are some of our recent submissions:

Enjoy!
