It all started with a bowl of udon noodles.

A bowl of udon noodles we couldn't find.

One day Lindsey was hankering for this bowl of noodles he'd eaten in Takamatsu (Japan). Ok, so maybe those noodles might be hard to come by in Texas, but just maybe ...

He scanned online lists of restaurants, picking the "sushi" category first, and then "Japanese." Alas, no mention of the elusive, chewy, delicious noodles.

Anyone who loves food has had a similar experience. When an obsessive craving strikes, there should be an easy way to find exactly what you're craving. Enter the Dishola.

At Dishola, we think that, more often than not, a restaurant choice begins with craving a particular dish. Dishola is a collection of our favorite dishes -- and yours. Your voice is important. We hope you'll share your favorite dishes, and come to Dishola to discover new ones. After you try a dish that you've read about on Dishola, come back and write your own review -- you can even upload a picture of it.

We figure 50,000 noodle (or brisket, or enchilada) fans can't be wrong. As our index grows, you'll be able to find dishes by location and descriptive tags (e.g. "Chinese barbecue in Austin", "pork ribs in Austin"), all with reviews and ratings from real people. The result? Ultimately, you will arrive at the door of a new restaurant and know just what to order; life is too short to eat an uninspired version of any dish.
