24 Apr 07 - This is a great group of photographers makeing great B&W photos. I am really impressed. I must apologize for one oversight on my part. When writing the description and rules I neglected to state that I would not accept nudes. This group should be family friendly. So Family friendly and No nudes.

About Digital Classic Black and White

I wanted to start a group for photographers who wanted to shoot color and convert the image to black and white. There a couple of other groups dedicated to this concept, but in true flickr mentality that is not enough. We need multiple duplication of a good thing (or of a bad thing). Also, I administer another B&W group called Classical Black and White which accepts only film. Many of my flickr contacts wanted to post with this group but do not shoot film. More to the point and more selfishly, I wanted to post some of my desaturated b&w shots someplace. So now we know why. And now for the how and what.

What. This is a group for serious photographs by serious photographers. Classic type B&W photos that started as color images and through the magic of Photoshop or other computer program have become Black and White images. This includes conversion of scanned color film or digital images. It includes cutouts and digitally tinted photos. Pinhole, toycameras, vintage cameras, camera obscura, or anyother image that has been scanned and processsed in a digital darkroom. However, film b&w's that were just scanned and posted with minimal processing should not be posted here.

We are looking for quality photos that might be considered fine art photography. This excludes several genres such as parties, our grandkids being cute, our boyfriend or girlfriend or both being alluring or funny, serial shots with minor changes in exposure, perspective, zoom, etc. Edit your work. It does include portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, night photography, animals, nature, flowers and plants, abstracts, street photography, gritty scenes of life or just interesting images of life, archetecture, skys, even fashion and a lot more. If you image does not work I will contact you. Definitely, it does not include nudes, cute pets, the cutest kids in the world (read yours and most assuredly, your grandkids), parties, etc. Just think, serious photography.

How! Post no more than 3 photos per day. Comment on one photo for each one you post. Comment on more if you can make time. Be nice, but offer quality suggestions that might help your colleague. Be supportive. Remember, you will get comments only when you comment on others photos and are helpful and supportive. Photographers as most artists I know have fragile egos and as a bunch we tend to be rather insecure. So caress our egos.

One more thing, I welcome your suggestions and will give them careful consideration.

Have fun.

Rules.

1. NO MORE THAT 3 POSTS PER DAY. (no arguments about a day. A day means the same thing as "what is means".

2. Read the description of this group. ....again.

3. Comment on at least one image for each one you post.

4. Read the description. ...AGAIN.

5. No nudes.

6 & 7 HAVE FUN AND HAPPY SHOOTING.
