About Dedicated to Diane Arbus
For those who want to use photography to look into human condition, to make the world more tolerant of what a real human soul is -- by reducing ignorance. Look into the eye of a transvestite to find out that he is as human as you are; look into the eyes of twins to know that everyone is their own person; look into the eye of a fur executive to know that he is no more or less a vulnerable human than the nudist.
In short: uncover the truth of being human to let it be good
Belonging to this group is just a statement of intent to pursue this truth. No charter or plans. But we may find ourselves liking each others work, so it is good to acknowledge each other.
Diane Arbus used photography to see inside things. Rather -- to share with the world the insight of things that she saw with a naked eye (or should I say with a naked soul). I wish there was a following that continued her work. We can be it.
If your photograph tells a story about people discovering their own genuine identity and freedom; if you see a contrast between the expected personae and the real character; if you see people in introspection, vulnerable or pompous, but genuine -- it belongs here. Diane Arbus did other work too, but we will focus here on human condition, her main theme.
