About Diabetic Friends Support Group
This is a local support group for those afflicted with or without Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Types 1/2/3.
Monthly meeting are held on the first Sunday of each Islamic Migratory Lunar Month.
Each month a different subject is discussed, and a lecture is given by a different speaker.
Free invitro random blood glucose testing, and blood pressure gauging is offered to visitors with a large selection of printed materials.
The Diabetic Friends Support Group is run by the Health Programme Committee of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth.

The meetings are monthly, on the first Sunday of every lunar month between 18:30 - 20:30. So far only a womens' section is available. It is hoped that soon a male section can be established.
The admission is free, and invitro testing for guests of random blood glucose and blood pressure guaging is free. Appropriate literature is also made available.
Each month a different doctor, diabetic educator, nurse or alternative health care worker presents a lecture on a different subject that is their speciality.
A facility is available to assist persons who need help with diabetic supplies. A small selection of diabetic supplies are available for purchase by visitors, and then they are encouraged to put them aside in a designated area next to the point of purchase as a donation so that nurses can give them to diabetic patients who needy.
The aim is to create an inviting and welcoming atmosphere to all women, girls and children to educate and enlighten them about all issues relating to all types of Diabetes.
The objective is to inspire all persons who are afflicted with diabetes to assume greater responsibility for their own well being and maintenance.
The World Health Organization Slogan for 2006/7 is:
"The Right to Proper Treatment for Every DM Patient"
The Diabetic Friends Support Group's calendar starts every year from November 14th onwards.
The Womens' Section of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) is the location for each meeting between the sunset and evening prayer times (approximately 18:30 hrs - 20:30 hrs).
All are welcome, admission is free, testing is free, literature is free. Qualified, registered nursing staff are on hand to give advice to visitors whose test results are abnormal or who have simple enquiries about DM.
From June/Jumad Al-Awal, the mens' section of WAMY will host male visitors to the Diabetic Friends Support Group.
