About The Dewey Look-Alike Holiday Contest

The holidays are coming up, and in the spirit of the first Dewey Look-Alike contest and in celebration of the new trade paperback edition of DEWEY: THE SMALL-TOWN LIBRARY CAT WHO TOUCHED THE WORLD, we're going to hold a Dewey Look-Alike Holiday Contest. If your cat looks like Dewey and enthusiastically celebrates the holidays with you (with a festive ornament on his or her collar), join the contest for a chance to be one of five winners of an author-signed copy of the book DEWEY by Vicki Myron (Oct. 2010). Just upload a picture of your cat to the group pool and you're instantly entered into the contest (subject to the conditions stated in the Contest/Group Rules).

You can also enter by regular mail by hand printing your name, birth date, complete street address (including zip code), daytime phone number, and email address (if you have one) on a 3”x 5” card, TOGETHER WITH a COPY of your photographic Submission (no larger than 8.5" x 11") and mail it, postage prepaid, to:

The Submission Period for all entries is between 12:00 pm (ET) on September 27, 2008 and 12:00 pm (ET) on October 27, 2010. However, if a mail-in entry is postmarked by October 27, 2010, 12:00 pm (ET) and received no later than November 3, 2010, 11:59 pm (ET) it will be accepted as timely.

Winners will be announced on December 15.

You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the United States to be eligible.

Each photograph that is submitted (one photograph to an entrant) into the Contest must meet ALL of the following requirements. Any Submission that, in Sponsor’s good faith judgment, is incomplete or does not meet the specifications in any respect may be disqualified.

(1)The Submission shall be a color photograph of a real cat;

(2)The entrant must own the cat photographed;

(3) The Submission must be the entrant's original, unmodified photograph, and shall not include any pre-existing material;

(4)The Submission must not include any trademark or logo, or appear to be an advertisement or promotion for any product or service;

(5) The Submission must not include real people; and

(6)The Submission shall be a photograph of a real cat wearing a festive ornament around its neck (does not necessarily have to look like the one Dewey is wearing on the cover).
