About Design and the City: The Design Hotels™ Photo Contest

An iconic Metro Sign, futuristic official buildings, the little details in a park bench… Design is all around us; in nature, in what we eat, what we wear, and where we go. In preparation for the re-launch of the Design Hotels™ website, we are inviting you to submit impressions of the design elements that make the 100 cities, where we have hotels, unique.

The 176 Design Hotels™ members are scattered among the most exotic, beautiful, and important cities around the world. Having over 100 destinations in over 40 countries means we represent a variety of cultures, languages, and visual imagery as diverse as the unique perspectives we all have. With this in mind, rather than simply communicating our impressions of each of these special destinations, we would like to showcase the distinct and unique perspectives of our fans and travellers. To celebrate this, Design Hotels™ is giving amateur photographers the opportunity to have their work featured on our new website launching spring 2009. Additionally, all selected images will be entered in a drawing for great prizes including 3 vouchers for 2 complimentary nights in one of our exciting hotels and ten copies of The Design Hotels™ Book.

We will be collecting images in our flickr group, “Design and the City: The Design Hotels™ Photo Contest” through March 9, 2009. Simply scan the list of Design Hotels™ destinations below and upload your picture from one of these destinations with a label of where it is. The goal of the contest is for you to show us what design means to you and what it means to each of the destinations, so be creative!
