Welcome to the Dekita pool and explore how you can use Flickr with your classes. There is an example of participative I engaged with my students in 2005 below (on the left navigation bar if using this link).
They interacted with Rudolf (our ghost in the machine) and Josef Stuefer, an amateur photographer and biology professor I came across here in Flickr.

Bee, it is good to see how your students got involved. I like the idea of giving them the opportunity to ask questions of Joseph, and presume he answered them at same point. Was it Illya who talked about this working with her class blogging.

I tried geotagging by adding several photos (Muriwai and Mangawhai Heads beach photos) to a map, which worked fine, but then the map view in dekita told me
There is no map view for this group.
This is because the group doesn't have any geotagged photos yet, or the information about where the photos were taken is private.
Clues, suggestions? I like the idea of overseas students being able to put onto a shared map photos of their hometown or the like.

Yes..I have used Community Walk for sharing photos and stories.
Check out the SMiELT map and add yourself to it.
