About DefectiveByDesign

The DefectiveByDesign group is a group for photos of products that have been tagged "Defective By Design" because of the presence of DRM, photos of DRM Elimination Events and other related DBD images.

DRM is Digital Restrictions Management, though the people who make it would call it Digital "Rights" Management. But "Rights" cannot be managed. Could you imagine managing the Right to Free Speech?

DRM is the nasty stuff the Microsoft, Apple, Intel, Sony/BMG, Vivendi Unversal and other Big Media companies are using to change your relationship to your computer, software, music, movies and web bookst. You will no longer "own" anything, you will only hold a revocable license to use things. This extends beyond media and content to software and hardware.

www.DefectiveByDesign.org is the campaign to stop DRM.
