This group is sponsored by the Dead Poets Society of America and is dedicated to honoring and interpreting American poets through photographs of their gravesites. It is only for photographs or videos that are taken at the actual gravesite of poets.
Participants seek to catalog the graves of American poets for historical reasons and/or to interpret poets' lives or work through the practice of Tombstone Art. (See deadpoets.typepad.com/dpsablog/what-is-tombstone-art.html for a "definition" of Tombstone Art)
By adding photos to this online collection you are adding to our historical knowledge of and appreciation for the poets in our past, and in the case of "forgotten" poets, making them present again.
