About Dead Art
Named after the TV documentary series that explores a cache of visual art that rarely gets the recognition it deserves.
That's because it is in cemeteries around the world, places that aren't always the first choice for seeking out art and architecture.
I have become fascinated with some of the stunning art and architecture that I see in cemeteries as I research my family history.
As new cemeteries now impose many rules and regulations regarding headstones this visual art is a dying medium (pardon the pun).
Equally, as this art is exposed to the elements, many of the works are being eroded and should be photographed for prosperity.
Many of these works of art in cemeteries around the world are national monuments. They also provide a historical reference to the period they were created in with many also displaying a personal relationship to those whose final resting places they mark
Please post your records of this visual medium and if would be great if you could geo tag them for others who may wish to visit.
Thank you.
