Yep, it is basic bar food but not bad. We have had some work parties there and from what I remember Thursday nights are not that busy until the college students start showing up later in the evening.

@shp: YAY! You are TOO kind!!!!! I wasn't exactly expecting to drink for free that night, but thanks for the offer! We'll restrict it to 3 rounds so that you don't go broke.
Also -- uhhh....I didn't think about this until now, but do we need nametags like we had in previous meetups?? If so, just let me know! I'll be happy to run to the store and get some this weekend.

1. i may have to work a little late that day. how late do we think people will stay?
2. yonas, if there's a lot of people planning to come, you might want to call the bar and let them know. they may not be able to do anything special, but at least they'd know to expect a large group of people looking for seats / pool / drinks / food.

Thanks, Heather. Sounds great. I called up Buffalo and they told me to submit an email via their website. They have a dedicated email address for large parties. The info on their site says that they have multiple rooms that can be reserved, but for a price.....they charge hourly with a two-hour minimum for some of the rooms. The other drawback is that everything must be on one check.
Sooo....I knew that scenario could be a potential nightmare, so I sent a kind email asking if we could just reserve a section -- not a private room -- of the bar. I also asked if we could have a dedicated server and if she or he would be willing to split all of the bills up. Oh -- and I asked if it were ok that we not pay anything for the reservation. Ha! Well, it's worth asking. I don't see why they would turn that down. We are all bringing them a ton of business for that evening.
Anyhow, I will keep you all posted as soon as I get a reply.

This is sorta like Teasim penn quarter. They expect a party to be some big event. Just tell them you wanted to let them know there will be a large group around X people there that night and you wanted to give them notice. Beyond that it's basically every one for themselves to get tables and such for their own use.

Hey folks, I just got a reply from Buffalo Billiards:
Yonas,
If you wanted to pay to rent a room I could guarantee a space but otherwise I can only suggest a space that might acccomodate all of your requests. I would not suggest that you be in an area with a server unless you want a single tab. If you would prefer for people to have separate checks then I would recommend the Adirondack Room/Back Bar. The back bar opens at 5pm and typically doesn't get busy until a little later so you could use that area but I cannot guarantee that other guests won't "claim" the space prior to your group arriving.

@Raising Cane, Buffalo Billiards is right outside the Dupont Circle station, Dupont Circle exit. As soon as you come up the escalator to the street, turn right, look across the street, and you should see the sign.

Hey, everyone.
I just wanted to say thanks a bajillion trillion for making it out last night. As I have already told most of you, I put this out there hoping for 10 to 12 people to show up and that number got blown out of the water. It was fantastic to meet in-person some of the usernames that I have been familiar with for a few years. For those that I have known already, it was great to see you after so much time. I hope we can have another successful weeknight meetup soon!
