About DC Metro Region - The Impact of Design
The Coalition for Smarter Growth, a nonprofit focusing on land use and transportation in the DC Metro region, is hosting this group to solicit photos that reflect the impacts of community design on our daily lives.
This group is about the good, the bad, the pretty, and the ugly of community design in the DC region:
-- People eating lunch at an outdoor cafe on Bethesda Row
-- Wary pedestrians attempting to cross Route 7 in Tysons Corner
-- A bicyclist commuting to work
-- Bustling sidewalks
-- An elderly couple walking to the theater
-- The red glare of taillights in a traffic jam
-- On-street parking with trees buffering the sidewalk
-- Blank walls facing streets with no sidewalks
-- Kids walking to a store or to school
-- Parking lots
-- Isolated office parks
-- Isolated schools
-- Anything showing our culture's dependence on cars
-- People enjoying a park
-- Anything showing the benefits of a well-integrated, mixed-use community (how about a shot of a Metro bus passing an outdoor market with a Zipcar and a bike in the background -- aim high!)
