Film developing in DC?
|
Hey guys, I'm from Ireland and I'm living around the DC area for a few months. I'm staying in Anacostia (bit of a culture shock haha) and I'm shooting both colour neg and slide film - where's the best place to get film developed here? I'm on a bit of a tight budget, but I just want quality, clean negatives!
Cheers,
Paddy

Penn Camera (closest store is probably their E Street store downtown); they are the camera store for DC and one of the best in the country. When I shoot film, that's where I get it developed.

Cheers! Just checked them out, heard only good things so I must give them a go. $5 for colour neg isn't bad at all, but $10 for slide film seems pretty steep - it costs the equivalent of $5 back home... anywhere that can do slide film for a better price than that?

For best quality you need to go the Dodge Chrome Imaging. Penn just sends out most of the stuff to be processed by a large house anyway.
There's a drop-off point for Dodge Chrome just West of Georgetown. The cool thing with these guys is that you can get proof prints in any format, and even get proof prints from transparencies. It is well worth a little extra money. Here's the link to their processing pages:
