16 Nov 09 - Welcome to the Day We Caught The Train group. Feel free to join and submit your images and stories about going on holiday by train.
PLEASE REMEMBER that we are looking for photos about your holidays or trips - random shots of trains are not what we are looking for in this group. Thanks!

About Day We Caught The Train
Do you remember travelling by train to go on holiday? Do you still do it today? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
From day trips to Blackpool to fortnights in the Med, if you went on holiday by train show us your photos and tell us about it. The NRM may have a huge photographic collection, but unfortunately not many of the images feature any ‘real’ people – even fewer tell us about the people in the frame. That’s where you come in…
The images don’t need to include a train – in fact we’d prefer it if they didn’t! This is a place to post images and stories about the times that you went by train for your holiday, and what you remember about both the journey and the holiday. If you still go by train for breaks away then even better.
If you’re struggling for inspiration, here are some things to think about…
Where did you go?
Why? For example, did your family go back to the same seaside resort every year without fail? Maybe your Mum or Dad worked for BR and got free tickets for the whole family?
What was the journey like?
Maybe you went Interrailing?
Was the journey part of your holiday, or did that only start when you reached your destination?
Do you still travel by train to go on holiday? Where do you go?
We’ve already added some images from our collection to help you get going. More to follow… Ours are mostly historical, but yours can be from any time.
