Once upon a time...
There was a little girl who loved to read fairy tales, and could often be found sitting on the playground with a big, beautifully illustrated storybook in her lap.
Well, I haven't really changed that much. I still love fairy tales, and was very excited for this swap. I will post some pictures of what I made tomorrow.
I have an Etsy shop I put together last summer, for the jewelry and crafts I make, called Rusalka's Enchanted Wares. The name "Rusalka" comes from stories of Russian mermaids or water spirits.

My dream used to be to illustrate a fairytale of my own, but I'd need to practice drawing a lot more to build my confidence. We'll see...maybe someday...
Some of my favorite folktales from around the world are, "The Little Mermaid" and "The Tinder Box" (both by Hans Christian Andersen), "Snow White and Rose Red","Rapunzel", "Hansel and Gretel", "The Twelve Dancing Princesses", "The Robber Bride Groom", "Momotaro", "The Little Humpbacked Horse", "The Frog Prince" (and the Russian story, "The Frog Princess"), Baba Yaga's Cat, The Arabian Nights, etc. A few of my favorite illustrators are K.Y. Craft, Howard Pyle, Warwick Goble, Trina Schart Hyman, Kate Greenaway, Patricia Coombs, Gustave Dore, Tasha Tudor, and Adrienne Ségur. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot...even though I'm babbling so much.
Anyway, I can't wait to see everyone's magical swap gifts.

Hey everyone! I'm currently working at a job I don't hate in the music new media industry (not iTunes) but I'm going back to school for graphic design at Minneapolis College of Art & Design next fall! I'm going to be an old timer.
I love fashion, design, Miyazaki animes, cats, and I think my favorite fairy tale might also be Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass. I love how dark they are. I guess all fairy tales kind of are anyway.
Anyhoo, my website is: www.ohsweetheart.org

Hello again. Thanks for making me feel less lonely in this thread.
Hooray for mermaid obsessions, Alice in Wonderland, black and white illustrations, fun jobs (as for me, I'm still looking for my calling out there...) and going to art school. I think you'll have a great experience there, "romance languages", and get to bring your own experience and perspective to the adventure.

Hey all! My name's Brittany (Britas online) and it has been so wonderful to look through all of you guys' fantastic work, I'm so happy I got to be a part of this swap!
I could never say no though, because this swap is pretty much about everything I adore. "Dark fairy" incorporates so many of my obsessions and loves, it's hard to fully describe! I adore enchantment, mystery, faeries, faerie tales, forests, art, mysticism and magic, darkness, depth, the list goes on and on. It all sums up rather well under this title though!
To answer the question posed above, my favorite faerie tale is hands down "Sleeping Beauty" :). Has been for as long as I can remember!
You can see my website for more about me, it'll probably give you a better picture than just me babbling - www.velvet-roses.net/. You can also check out my journal - black_mascara @ LJ and my shop - Ashes of Roses (though there's not a lot there at the moment!)
Thanks for such an inspiring posts guys! :).
