About Nikon D700 16-35mm f/4G ED VR
A group to showcase the awesome paring of the Nikon D700 with the new AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G ED VR Wide Angle Zoom lens.
I believe this is the sweet spot between high end crop sensor DSLRs and the high end full frame models.
The 16-35 with the vibration reduction incorporated really sets a standard in terms of low light hand held shooting capabilities.
Those that think vibration reduction (Image stabilization) on a wide angle lens doesn't make a difference haven't tried it themselves. I've hand-held it down to 0.4th of a second. The VR coupled with the wide yield of view lends itself well for hand-held low light shooting.
I don't mind it being an F4 since it reduces the weight and size and the excellent low light capability of the Nikon D700 allows you to use higher ISO to make up for the extra stop or two of light loss from this non 2.8 lens.
Feel free to post your shots of and taken with this awesome combo that yields high quality without needing to break your back or bank in the process.
