Pretty Slick. I picked up a lumiquest flash screen, great for taking the harshness out of the flash, but doesnt bounce. Ill have to give this a try.

thats pretty good, it's more of a diffused than a bounce but that is just as good really.

Great job! Here's my test results. This one is more of a diffuser because of my paper grade but your great design work fits perfectly. I resized your jpg down a bit to get the right dimensions as an "actual size" print. Straight print on standard inkjet paper. You can read the relevant data with the pics.

Thank you all for the nice comments.
mnseer, I'm glad you liked the results. Yes, card stock will definitely give more bounce. I also made one with reflective tape where the flash hits, so it gives better bounce but less diffused forward light. I like the results of the plain card stock better.
I'm just experimenting with this until I make a decision on whether to get the SB-400 or SB600. I like the light weight of the SB-400 but I feel the SB-600 has more flexibility. Any recommendations?

Last time I had SLR (film) stuff I found I never used the swivel feature on my speedlite so I'll go with the sb400 both for price and size. The swivel is nice for subtly changing shadowing in a well lit studio situation but the ounce is really the feature that counts for me. Later today I'll make your gizmo from card stock but add a back piece that comes up higher so as not to lose light bouncing backwards. I think that will cut down on the need to ramp up the ev and the flash but still soften the subject lighting very well.
