About PermaCultured balconyscapes
Sometimes one or two meters is all you need, to create an captivating world of longing and belonging. Here are my favourites in literature:
* Tom Sawyers raft
* Planet B612, Tended by Saint- Exupery's Little Prince.
* The stormswept tree house, hatching a cozy rebellion in 'The Grass Harp', by Truman Capote.
* The railings over which Mr Hoppy gazed longingly at old Mrs Silver, and his ingenious scheme to overtake her tortoise Alfie in her affections. .' Esio trot ' by Roald Dahl.
The Permaculture theme is because these 'gardens' in some way Care for People, Care for the Earth, and Share some kind of Surplus.
Maybe they are edible, maybe they compost elegantly, maybe they have quirky inventions that others can copy and revel in.
They are worth the work.
They are contagiously beautiful.
They celebrate and show off resourcefullnes. We can have fun wrestling with downward forces, and creating elevated micro-worlds.
