About Cressing Temple

The aim of this group is to share photos and memories with each other about the days out at Cressing temple. It's a great place to visit when events are on or of. It has a very calming feeling about it.

Cressing temple is an ancient medieval moated farmstead, the site was granted to the mysterious warrior monks, the Knights Templar, by Queeen Matilda in 1137.

The Knights Templar was a military order which was founded in 1119 at the time of the Crusades with the expressed intention of protecting pilgrims travelling to the holy land.

It has a range of rural barns and two very big oak barns built during the 13th century for the Knights Templar. Also a newly created 16th century paradise garden, and a
17th century Farmhouse and Tudor Granary

Cressing was the largest and most important of the Templar Knights landholdings in Essex.
