About *Art of the Bible* ::NEW RULES:::
Scipture is not safe....why should its art be?
Welcome to the new “*Art of the Bible*” group formerly known as “Divine Creativity” - a group of artists dedicated to expressing the stories of the Bible in artworks irrespective of their faith or beliefs.
Chagall did it, Nolde, Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso and also Andy Warhol: They illustrated the bible. You can do it too.
There is no other book like the Bible. From the fall in the garden to Paul in prison with the hope of the final resurrection, it is a work of passion, beauty, heartbreak and hope. At times its stories are violent, dark and filled with despair and yet it’s characters, generation after generation push forward in their imperfect humanity led by the spirit of God. Light in the midst of darkness. Hope out of sorrow.
You do not have to be a Christian to join. Many of the greatest biblical works were made by people outside of Christianity.
Everyone is welcome. No censorship, but there are some major changes so please read carefully.
THE RULES
-Depictions of Biblical stories and characters only…which means:
- No snapshots, flowers, sunsets, family photos, greeting card style shots, et al. even if a bible verse is included. We understand that many see God’s glory in a sunset (as do we) but that is not what this group is dedicated towards. It is about telling the stories of the Bible, depicting it’s characters and challenging you to create them. We would rather see one image depicting Gideon with the fleece, even if it’s a beginners attempt, than twenty excellent sunsets with Psalm 19 written over or under them. Anything not depicting a biblical story or character, no matter how well it’s done, will be deleted.
Start with the story or character then create the image. Don’t find a snapshot and find a way to make it fit a passage.

- Original work only. No stolen imagery. Image manipulations are fine if permission is granted.
- Place your scriptural reference and “bibleillustration” in your tags and/or comments. DO NOT WRITE YOUR VERSE ON THE IMAGE. If the image needs the verse on it to make it a biblical illustration, then it isn’t a biblical illustration.
- Anything defaming the bible or God will be deleted and if necessary, the member banned.
- Good judgment, balance and respect. Please keep any nudity (if any) respectful and dignified. David being tempted by Bathsheba is understandable but a graphic depiction of them in bed is not. We’ll know the difference and trust you do as well. If a member is posting an over abundance of sexualized work they will be warned and the images deleted.
If you do not owe a bible have a look at Biblegateway.com. They also have a keyword search, so if you know you want to illustrate "sin" just search for "sin" and you may find a passage that fits.
