02 Mar 10 - There aren't any rules as such, you just have to pass the creative test to get your images in the pool…. However before posting please read the introduction below, and have a look through the following galleries by Jon and Rob which will give a flavour of the images we'd like to attract...

About Creative Landscapes

Creativity within the context of landscape photography. We welcome photographers with an ambition to create images that reflect the inner soul, and the journeys we make through this amazing landscape.

We’re talking natural form, but with personal experience. Is your work communicating above and beyond light and composition, is it expressive, thoughtful, insightful and deep?

When I photograph, what I'm really doing is seeking answers to things. Wynn Bullock

We’re talking about individualism and self expression.

Mystery isn't in the technique, it's in each of us. Harry Callahan

Since we’re serious about what we do, this group will suit you if you are dedicated to pushing your own boundaries as well as ours. Ideally you’ll be working on ‘personal projects’ which you can share with us as it develops, helping us to understand your expression. And when you want feedback to the development of your ideas we will be a challenging community.

I am not interested in rules or conventions. Photography is not a sport. Bill Brandt

You can see an indicative selection of the images we welcome here and here or by looking through the group pool, and although membership to this group is open, we will be moderating the work admitted.

The decision may be taken on the basis of the body of your work as much as a single image. Recognising that as artistically inclined photographers we sometimes need the space to experiment in order to grow and develop and that feedback from your peers is an important element in the process. The only reason I might turn you down is if your work is looking suspiciously conventional.

This is not a club for those with inflated egos, nor a place to dump your technically perfect but mindlessly derivative (award winning) shots, but a community thriving on creativity. So go ahead take a few risks, and say something different today…..

There is nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept. Ansel Adams

But one plea - please if you are going to join make some time to be involved, nobody wants to post images into a black hole so do as to others etc and take some time to create or join in a discussion or look through the pool. Make some friends - you never know where it might lead in your development!

Our discussion threads are designed to help us communicate the challenges of working in a creative field.

· Presentation of folios
· Criticism and analysis
· Exhibition news etc

And finally, if you’ve got as far as here…. You’ll have worked out that we are not really interested in pretty sunsets (or sunrises) or overly popular locations however well they are photographed. This group is moderated by two guys who have a particular taste for innovative and creative image making – and that’s what we encourage you to submit!
