ImageStamper: CC license witness service

view profile

alexei_322  Pro User  says:

Hi there,

I wanted to mention a new tool I have developed for people who use Creative Commons images from Flickr.

ImageStamper ( www.imagestamper.com ) is a digital witness service for keeping dated, independently verified copies of creative commons images and their licenses. You can use it to keep proof that you obtained your images under the right creative commons license, even if the images are later deleted from Flickr or their licenses change.

Just paste the URL of the image you want to use into a form and ImageStamper will generate a timestamp with the copy of the image, its license, and the date when the timestamp was created. It will then be stored permanently in your account unless you choose to delete this timestamp later.

You can read more about the service here: s1.imagestamper.com/about.jsp

ImageStamper is currently in early beta. I hope this new service is of interest to you and if you have any suggestions on how this service might be more useful to you, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Best wishes,

Alexei

If anyone has had trouble registering, Google Apps just blocked a bunch of outgoing registration confirmation e-mails because they consider them spam. I have just re-sent them manually and changed my outgoing e-mail provider. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for your feedback, laihiu! At the moment ImageStamper only supports Creative Commons licenses, but I will now certainly look into supporting public domain images as well. Please do let me know if you have any other suggestions , here or in the ImageStamper forum.

Hi suvanna7133,

Feel free to send me a message on Flickr or to support@imagestamper.com with the exact problem you are having.

There are quick pointers on how to use ImageStamper when you click on 'Stamp'. You should be able to view the Stamp page once you have confirmed your account by following instructions in the confirmation email.

Hope this helps, but once again do feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
