About Crashes in Action

Welcome! This group is intended for crashes that are in action — not for when the action stops. Any crash-related impact involving any sport, as long as it does not result in death or serious injury.

Again, this pool is NOT intended to show the aftermath of a crash … as the group name states, it's CRASHES IN ACTION, i.e., while they are happening (if the corner workers are standing next to the vehicle, that's not a crash in action)

Crashes occur in just about any sport … cars into barriers, motorcycles onto ground, athletes into other athletes, etc. This is to show how quickly a photographer can react when a crash occurs.

Not very interested in wrecker-car racing since that's all they do is smash into each other. Dump a bunch of those in here and some (if not all) will likely be deleted. Sorry.

NOTE: as a photographer and motorcycle ex-racer, I know all too well that crashes can be devastating, both personally and financially. This is NOT to make light of crashes, but to show the work of the skilled photographers and videographers who catch them.

Update 2011 Oct 17: In an effort to make this group the best it can be, I'm raising the bar a bit … multiple shots that look very similar (motor-drive action) such as a car sliding on pavement, the next shot shows it 10 feet further, the next shot shows it 10 feet further, etc., will be filtered out to show one shot that represents all the similar shots to it.

If that same car slides off the track, then that new shot is no longer similar to the pavement shots. Additionally, if a shot only shows a car getting a little sideways, with no subsequent shot indicating a crash, it will likely be deleted … a little power slide is not a crash. The goal here is to make viewing the group not look redundant, but to focus on real crashes in action.

If I delete a photo or two of yours, please do not take it personally … it's just my job, man ;o)

Update 2011 Sep 30: Crashes in Action hits 1000 photos in just over three months (pun intended)

Update 2011 July 19: With Crashes in Action less than four weeks old, it has become the #1 search result when "crash" is used to search groups. That's out of over 1900 crash-related groups.

Thank you for your contributions!
