About Counting back the years - taking a break in 2012
Counting back the years. We're taking a break in 2012, having more or less exhausted our stores.
The general rules have been:
Only ONE of each number. Only ONE in a row from the same member.
Please only years/numbers written as four-digit numbers, readable in the thumbnail. Preferably no other numbers visible in the pictures (exceptions may be made for dates and for small and peripheral stuff - also from now on (mid-1700s) the occasional pairing with another year will be accepted).
Use found numbers/years - NOT numbers written into the picture in Photoshop, nor pictures off the web or screenshots. Make the pictures at least Medium size (that's 500 pixels wide, I think).
In 2009 the rule was that a year had it's own day, allowing more than one photo for each. With that method 1645 was the last year possible.
In 2010 the rule was: only one of each number - years preferred, but non-years allowed. With a lot of admin work searching and inviting through the doldrums of 1500s to 1000s (or something like that) AND a super fast final countdown we made it all the way to zero.
In 2011 we got as far as 1406 with only true years, slowly and with some rule tweaking by and by (and I suspect that a non-year snuck into the sequence in the 2000s, before we had the hang of the method). We'll see how it goes now with non-years allowed.
