About The Zion Chapel Burial Ground The Zion Chapel Burial Ground is a small old cemetery in Margate in Kent. It was founded by The Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion. The cemetery was almost abandoned in the 20th century after the church was no longer used and commerical buildings were constructed around it. What started out as a facing on a grand Georgian Square ended up forgotten and up a small side street. But consequently it is has grown in wildlife and is a very special place. Residents have now formed a friends group and we are working to apply for funds to look after it for the future along the lines of 'Managed Neglect' similar to Highgate Cemetery.
