23 Apr 09 - Hi and welcome to the Copper Coast group. The name refers to the coastline between Tramore and Stradbally in Co. Waterford in the Republic of Ireland. It was once an area which mined copper and tin, and the geology is of interest.
The area is Ireland's only European Geopark, and has some interesting physical features. Beaches and rugged cliffs are typical of this region and are much photographed. I would like to see the surrounding townlands included here as well. Enjoy!

About The Copper Coast

Ireland's Copper Coast runs along the County Waterford coastline, usually thought of as between Tramore and Stradbally. There is much in the way of historical artefacts which remind us of the copper and tin-mining that went on in the region over the centuries.

The area has been made part of the European Geopark Network in the last decade and more is being learnt about the geology which gives rise to the ores which were mined, as well as the sea-stacks and sea-arches, and characteristic triangular jutting rocks along this coastline.
I'd appreciate it if at all possible, you can put a location on your photos, either by tag, text or geo-tagging.
