Concert Photography FAQs
New Shooters, Ask for Feedback Here!!
we're on twitter: twitter.com/Concert_Photo
RULES FOR THE POOL:
- POST ONLY YOUR BEST WORK
- Don't post more than three shots per band.
- Don't post similar shots.
- Images must include live music performance of some type!
Pictures that include some element of the performance, ie pics of the stage before the performance, stage props, or shots of only the lighting with out any of the performers in it, will be tolerated to a minimum, but don't post a lot of them. After all this group is about live concert photography and we want to see pictures of the performers.
Please DO NOT post shots of:
- studio/promo shots of musicians
- some "hottie" in the crowd. wide angle shots of the entire crowd enjoying the show is better.
- you and your buddies back stage
- you and your buddies in the parking lot pretending you are back stage.
- your beer.
- all of the above, which just happens to have the stage somewhere in the back ground...sorry, not a concert shot.

RULES FOR THE DISCUSSION BOARDS
- Browse the FAQ's before posting, or run a search of the forum, a lot of questions have been answered several times over.
- Be courteous to your fellow shooters.
- No name calling, insults, or personal attacks. Don't harass other members. Keep it civil, please.
- DO NOT request contact information or pass information for bands/tours.
- All requests for Feedback should only be left HERE
- DO NOT ask for feedback for images hosted anywhere other than flickr. ie. don't post your photobucket, facebook, blogspot etc. images here and ask us to go to an external site to provide feedback.
- All posts with no responses older than two months old will be deleted.
- If you see [Closed] added to your subject line your post has been closed and is probably in violation of one of the above. Contact the administration if you feel it was an error and discuss it with us. Do not repost the same topic.
- If you see [OT] added to your subject line, your post was off topic for the forum. These posts will be kept to a minimum.
- Tone and intent can be tough to interpret online. It can be tempting to assume the worst about someone but keep in mind that English may not be every poster's native language. We're not all prize winning authors, either.
- Inflammatory remarks will be removed or disemvoweled
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disemvoweling]
- If the mods feel you have crossed the line more than a few times,
you will be banned from the group.
- Mods reserve the right to close any thread. If you feel a thread
should not have been closed, please contact a mod.
- Keep self-linking, tooting your own horn, and flogging your work to
a minimum. "Look at me" threads will most likely be closed, especially if they contain images hosted outside of Flickr. Please post in the official "asking for feedback" thread if you would like group members to look at your work.
- Don't insult other people's work, (perceived) lack of knowledge or experience, or choice in subject matter (i.e., "that band sucks!"). We're all here to learn and share our work.
Examples as to why your post was closed:
1. The topic has been discussed *several* times before. If you feel you have something new to add, post it in an existing topic. If you feel your topic is entirely different than other existing ones, then talk to a mod and we will reopen your post.
2. You were spamming or trying to sell goods on the group. No exceptions to this one. (Trying to sell used equipment... try ebay, or KEH.com etc.)
3. The post got out of control with inflammatory remarks and veered completely off topic.
4. You added another "off topic" topic and the group was over run with them. This will likely never happen. OT topics are ok to post, but as stated in the above section should be kept to a minimum. If for some reason the forum becomes flooded with them, mods are going to have to do house cleaning so our discussion remains primarily about concert photography. We hope you understand that this is a reasonable measure to take and that there are other groups on flickr you can share your non concert photography related ideas with.

Other than that welcome aboard.
