About Compassion and critique
Guidelines
When posting a photo in the pool please leave comments (critical and constructive) on at least one other. I'm not going to 'police' this, or 'expel' or any of that nonsense - just ask that you give it a go!
We grow by being offered challenge in a supportive environment - that is what I am trying to do through this group and extend a warm invitation to anyone who would like to join me.
The purpose of this group is to offer a venue for supportive critique - what do you like about a shot, and what might improve it so that it becomes even more pleasing or technically proficient?
Since joining Flickr I have noticed how others' and my work evolves and refines through exposure to the thousands of wonderful images that can be seen here.
But I have also noticed that the kinds of feedback offered largely (with few but welcome exceptions like Applaud me and I want 5) falls into two types; enthusiastic praise and blunt (and frequently unhelpful) criticism.
The only guideline for this group is that you come prepared to offer and receive supportive, non-judgemental and balanced feedback so that we can build a community of enthusiasts working together to capture the beauty of the world we live in!
To post a photo into a thread:
Go to the image you want in flickr, click "all sizes", then "small". Underneath the photo, you'll see two bits of code. The longer one which begins <a href= is the one you want. Copy this (highlight, then do control and c) and paste it (control and v) wherever you want it in your message. Hey presto! Your photo will appear and if you click on that, you'll go to the original again. Oh, it's easiest to have two windows open with flickr, one with your photo, the other with your message thread - saves to-ing and fro-ing backwards and forwards.
