our beautiful lakefront naturalized wetland has been slated for bulldozing. why? a skatepark even the skaters don't like. why not? better locations exists within a 10-block radius. why is this happening? councillor mark grimes has taken much heat for pressing the location when much better parks (including the closest, which would adjoin a pool, soccer pitch and arena) were on the short list. this is to explain that in no way is this nimby-ism. as supporters say: "skatepark: great idea, bad location!"

It’s not yet clear how public that consultation will be or what the mandate will be of the committee he has promised. Will this be another hand picked committee? Will they be restricted to considering the four sites already short listed?"
