About Cohesive Body of Work/The Portfolio Review Group
This group is for those serious photographers trying to present a portfolio consisting of a cohesive body of work. You can present your portfolio here and have it reviewed while reviewing the work of other like-minded photographers. This is an excellent group if you have a body of work but are unsure about how to take it (and maybe even your photography) to the "next level."
This is not a group for single image reivews. This is not a group for absolute beginners. There are no blinking icons here. You should be prepared to submit only a cohesive body of work, much like what a gallery, commercial, or educational institution would want to see. We would expcet that, after having your work reviewed in this group, you would actually present your portfolio but this is not required.
This group is for people who
-are building a portfolio or series of photographs that will be presented for commercial, artistic and educational purposes.
-want a review of their work, want to move to the next level with their photography.
-want honest, substantive feedback and are willing to do more than comment and run ("nice capture!" is discouraged)
-are able to discuss their own work, either in the form of an artist's statement or a set of goals and questions.
To participate:
1. Start a new topic, which will be devoted to your work.
2. Title the topic so that it corresponds to your body of work.
3. Put your artist's statement or set of goals and questions into your topic first. (No pics yet.)
4. Add your images to your topic. We suggest that you post no more than 20% over your target portfolio size (a target of 10 would be 12) and that you try to post between 8 and 15 images to receive the best feedback.
5. If the feedback/review you seek is time-sensitive, by all means, please indicate that in the thread. (Example: "I have a meeting with a gallery owner in one month")
You are encouraged to browse the topics before participating to get a feel for the nature and level of comments.
