Group DescriptionThis group is for the display and disscussion of Railroad Coaling Towers. Coaling towers were designed to fuel steam locomotives. In the 19th and early 20th century, coaling towers were an integral part of every railroad. The introduction of diesel locomotives led to the abandonment of these structures. Please add photos of any coaling tower, be sure to identify the location of the structure.
