About Cascadia Marine Trail

In 1989, a group of concerned recreationalists got together to address the diminishing availability of publicly accessible shoreline in the Puget Sound Basin. The CMT was created by a bill in the Washington State Legislature with the goal of increasing public access to Puget Sound for human and wind powered, beachable water craft. Washington Water Trails Association seeks to advocate for and develop the CMT and other water trails sites throughout Washington State (www.wwta.org).
