Thanks to all of our supporters and advocates for making this year’s Clock In: Pledge-a-thon for Workplace Equality an amazing success! With participation in all 50 states, we surpassed our goal of 5,000 pledges, bringing a new awareness to the discrimination LGBT people and those with HIV can face at work. The response to Lambda Legal’s 2nd national day of action for workplace equality, which took place on May 15, was a true testament to the 90 percent of Americans who believe workplace discrimination is wrong.

But the battle isn’t over yet. In 2007, individuals seeking workplace fairness generated nearly 1,000 Help Desk calls to Lambda Legal, the highest volume in any category.

Less than half of all states specifically ban workplace discrimination in the private sector based on sexual orientation and even fewer states expressly ban discrimination based on gender identity. Lambda Legal will continue to help our supporters fulfill their pledges throughout the year, so we can help make work environments in those states safer.
