About Classic Film Shooters

This is a FILM group! No pictures from digital cameras. (With one exception, explained below)

Does this describe you?:

-You were using film LONG before it was "cool."
-You don't buy your film or cameras from Urban Outfitters.
-You call film, FILM, not "analog" !

-You believe that there is something special about using a real, all-metal mechanical camera, and that when you fire the shutter you have just permanently captured a moment of time on film. There is no delete.

-You love being able to hold something tangible in your hands and seeing your pictures permanently burned onto negatives, prints, and slides.

If so, then this is the group for you!

Group Rules:

All pictures posted in the Pool should be from film. No pictures from digital cameras are allowed - except pictures OF classic \ vintage film cameras are now allowed, on a trial basis. You are encouraged to start a topic about your classic cameras and post any digital pictures of your cameras in the topic.

No excessive digitial manipulation. Use common sense. Making minor adjustments to the pictures, such as cropping, exposure, contrast, color saturation, etc is perfectly fine...but do not completely "Photoshop" the picture to the point that it changes the character of the film. This includes converting a color picture to black and white. If you want to post a black and white photo, it should be from black and white film. Do not use software to try to "simulate" film.

You MAY however post pictures that use experimental development techniques, such as cross-processing, bleach bypass, redscale, etc. Basically, as long as the manipulation was done when you took the picture in the camera or during developing, NOT on your computer!

The main focus of this group is for film shooters who like to use real film cameras. NO Holgas, Dianas, or other toy cameras. I'm sure "lomography" is a lot of fun...but that is NOT the purpose of this group.

You are welcome to post pictures from any format - 110, 120, 126, 35mm, large format, even instant film. Whatever. Just as long as it's film!

* Exception:

Since this is also a group for discussing classic film cameras, digital pictures OF classic / vintage film cameras may be posted. However, you are encouraged to start a topic and post any digital pictures of your camera in the topic, rather than posting them in the group pool.

Group Discussion Rules:

Avoid profanity. If something slips out once in a while, it's not a big deal. But use common sense. If it becomes excessive, you'll be given a warning. If it's still a problem, you'll be asked to leave or will be banned.

No personal insults. You are free to disagree and debate with one another as long as it stays civil.

Absolutely NO "Film VS Digital" topics or debates. This is a FILM group. No discussion of software that "simulates" film (and that especially includes programs like "Poladroid" and "Alien Skin!")

That should cover everything. Have fun and keep shooting!
