22 May 09 - Welcome to this group. Kansas was known as "The Soldier State" due to it's large population of Civil war Veterans in the 1880's and 1890's. Most of the early history makers in Kansas were either Civil war Veterans or their wives or children or had somebody in their family or acquaintance that were Civil war Veterans. This site is dedicated to honoring these brave veterans on both sides of this war that are buried here in Kansas. Also Kansas Civil war Soldiers buried elsewhere.
