About Cinematic Self-Portraiture
This is a group for those photographers who turn the camera on themselves and act. The photos submitted to this pool must have been taken by the submitter. The photos must be evocative of the visual language seen in films--either by direct reference or by more subtle means.
This is a group for self-portraitists influenced by cinema as an artform... not cinema as mere entertainment. Thus, this is *not* a group for images that mimic the latest Hollywood blockbuster... or what have you. Mais non. If you've never heard of Fellini, Truffaut, Antonioni, Bergman, and the various other gods and goddesses of Art Cinema... then this is probably not the group for you.
Photos which show you looking directly at the camera and smiling are probably not going to be all that cinematic... though clearly, there are exceptions. And if you can pull it off, then props to you. As a general rule, think *implied narrative* when submitting pics to the group. Ever so occasionally the pool is swept through to remove photos deemed inappropriate.
As odd as it may seem, you must actually have self-portraiture already visible in your photostream in order to be accepted into this group.
